Brunet Riegstra, Colourful Expressionism

From fields of farmland under a fierce blue sky to a colourful bouquet of flowers in a round vase: the oeuvre of Brunet Riegstra (1953) is packed with expressionism. Creating still lifes, landscapes and portraits, Riegstra uses a powerful palette of colours. Her paintings are consist of angular planes in different shapes and sizes, finely balanced within the whole. A source of inspiration for these paintings is Pablo Picasso, as well as his less famous colleague Paul Cézanne. Riegstra graduated at Academie Minerva and lives and works in Groningen, in the north of the Netherlands.
