Cole Morgan, Photorealistic Abstraction

The modern abstract paintings by Cole Morgan (1950) are immediately captivating. The eye travels from left to right, up and down, trying to make sense of the colours, shapes, structure and perspective. But the scenes are often misleading and require a second glance to be completely understood. Morgan uses bright, bold colours, arranged in meticulously ordered planes. The artist applies many different techniques and brush strokes and is inspired mainly by the abstract expressionists of the 1960s, as well as collage techniques.
